I realized on the bus today that “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” reminded me a whole lot of the Arpeggione sonata, except that I don’t really remember how the latter goes.

  1. well, arpeggione was originally written for the Arpeggione, which is another name for the (now pretty much extinct) instrument Guitare d’Amore, or, “Love Guitar.” i see the connection. Schubert also wrote many Lieder, which is German for the English word “songs,” but it sounds more intelligent when you use the German word. So, much of his music sounds very song-like. Similarly, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” is prety song-like.
Incidentally, Schubert is dead and half of the band who did “WMGGW” is dead. To expand, Schubert wore glasses which can make people look like bugs. Beatles sounds like “beetles,” which are a type of bug.
